A YOUNG Townsville girl is about to become a global superstar with the release of a new Netflix documentary.

Magnetic Island’s Izzy Bee, 13, will star in Izzy’s Koala World alongside her parents Dr Ali and Tim Bee, who run Magnetic Island Koala Hospital, rescuing sick and injured koalas before releasing them.

Izzy said being the subject of attention with the koalas was at first a challenge.

“At first it was quite awkward having cameras follow me around, but after a while I sort of forgot that the cameras were there and just enjoyed myself,” she said.

Now she has a taste of life in front of the camera, she is hopeful of getting more opportunities.

“I’m still not sure whether I want to take on an acting career or be a vet/wildlife caretaker like my mum, but I definitely want to continue both and I hope there are more chances after the Netflix show, because it’s a great way to get the message out about small wildlife hospitals and how important it is to help them,” she said.

Izzy’s mum said the experience was “incredible” and the upcoming documentary showed off the island in “spectacular fashion”.

She said Izzy developed special bonds with some of the koalas which was beautifully captured in the documentary.

Izzy’s Koala World starts this week.
