Born out of a tapestry of personal trials and triumphs, Chase Clothing & Co isn’t just another fashion brand - it’s a heartfelt story.
Founded by Danielle Barry and her husband Kyle, the Townsville-based brand started as a way to weave together their experiences of IVF struggles and the joyful arrival of their first child, Chase.
“Chase Clothing & Co was born not just out of creativity, but out of love, resilience, and a deep desire to make meaning out of a deeply personal journey,” Danielle told NQ Weekend. “The inspiration came following the birth of our son, Chase, after a long and emotional road with IVF.
“That chapter of our lives taught me more than I could ever imagine about patience, strength, and celebrating the small wins.
“It reshaped how I view everything – including business.
“For me, Chase Clothing isn’t just a brand, it’s a legacy of love and persistence.”
Danielle said going through IVF was humbling and eye-opening.
“It showed me how much strength we have inside us, even when we feel completely broken.”
This new-found perspective seamlessly transitioned into her approach to business. Obstacles, she explains, feel different when you’ve already overcome one of life’s toughest emotional challenges.
One of the standout initiatives of Chase Clothing & Co is the “Teaching Kindness” collection.
“The “Teaching Kindness” collection is incredibly close to our hearts. It’s a reminder that kindness isn’t just taught in classrooms — it’s something we all carry, show, and pass on, every single day.”
This line is a tribute to the quiet leaders in our lives who teach kindness not through lesson plans, but by example.
Collaborating with local teachers, Danielle crafted a range that celebrates those who lead with love.
“We had so much fun working with a few local teachers in the design process, and their stories and insights helped shape the heart of this range.”
But this collection isn’t just about teachers -it’s for anyone who leads with love, whether a parent, carer, friend, teammate, or just someone who believes in the power of a kind word at the right time.
“Every piece is a tribute to the quiet leaders in our lives — the ones who teach kindness not with a lesson plan, but by example.”
With each purchase, the brand supports mental health and kindness-driven programs, furthering these values in the community.
But the brand’s commitment to giving back doesn’t stop there.
A portion of sales is donated to the Fuel for Schools initiative, a cause close to Danielle’s heart.
“The impact (of Fuel for Schools) on the community has been truly heartwarming,” she notes, highlighting the tangible difference it makes in children’s lives.
The creative process behind the brand’s collections is a labour of love.
“It starts with an idea,” Danielle explains, drawing inspiration from various sources to bring meaningful designs to life.
The “Teaching Kindness” collection, in particular, is for anyone who believes in the power of kindness.
By involving the community in the design process, the brand creates something that transcends fashion, spreading a message of positivity and encouragement.
Sourcing materials locally and producing items in-house is a cornerstone of Chase Clothing & Co’s ethos.
“It ensures the heart and quality of what we do never gets lost,” Danielle said.
By working with local businesses and maintaining a hands-on approach, the brand guarantees the quality of every piece they send out to customers.
Balancing the demands of running a business with parenting Chase and Layla, and other jobs is no small feat, but Danielle and her husband Kyle manage it with grace.
“It’s a beautiful kind of chaos,” she admits, crediting their support system of family and friends for making it all possible.
The business is a team effort, with everyone pitching in to help, whether it’s packing orders late at night or doing post office runs.
Establishing and growing Chase Clothing & Co has not been without its challenges. Competing in a market dominated by larger retailers offering cheaper options is tough, but Danielle remains steadfast in her commitment to local production and community support.
“We focus on keeping our costs low while maintaining high quality.
“What sets us apart is our commitment to local production, in-house design, and supporting the community.
“By staying true to these values, we’ve managed to carve out a unique space for ourselves in a competitive market.’’
Looking to the future, Danielle hopes to continue creating meaningful designs and supporting causes that matter to her. Collaborating with charities has been one of the most rewarding aspects of her journey, and she aims to grow in a way that allows Chase Clothing & Co to keep giving back.
Community involvement is at the heart of the brand’s mission.
“We believe the best way to encourage community involvement is through talking and conversation,” Danielle says.
By connecting with customers and sharing stories, the brand fosters a sense of belonging and inspiration.
Danielle is quick to acknowledge the incredible support she receives from the local community.
“Our amazing photographers, Kyle Sanim Imagery and Courtney Rose Photography, donate their time to capture our collections, and our family and friends go above and beyond to help us every step of the way.
“But we also want to give a huge thanks to our customers.
“We understand not everyone can purchase from us, but every like, comment, and share makes a difference and helps us spread the word.”
