Lexus Charity Ball hosted by aerobatic pilot Matt Hall raises more than $50,000 for Cancer Council Queensland
It kicked off with an epic aerial show from an international pilot, and ended with thousands of dollars being raised for those impacted by cancer in the North Queensland region.

While the room was filled with smiles, laughter and cheers there were many moments throughout the night where the crowd sat silent as they listened to the stories of North Queenslanders impacted by cancer.
The Lexus Charity Ball held Friday night at The Ville raised more than $50,000 for Cancer Council Queensland with the money going directly to those in our region who need it the most.
Former Royal Australian Air Force fighter and international aerobatic competitor Matt Hall kicked off the event with an aerial show that stunned guests as he flew across the marina, with a picturesque Townsville back drop.
During the night the Red Bull Air Race World Championship competitor took to the stage to deliver an inspiring speech about life lessons and how he came to living his dream each day.
“I was so scared of people pointing their fingers at me and saying ‘I knew you couldn’t do it’,” he told the crowd.
“But five seconds of finger pointing is worth a lifetime of happiness.”
Cancer Council Queensland’s CEO Andrew Donne also addressed the room and provided sobering stats that reminded everyone of why they were there for the evening.
He said that this year 34,000 Queenslanders will be diagnosed with a form of cancer, and in 2028 we will see an 11 per cent increased.
“Tonight is so important for people of Townsville as all funds raised will be spent on providing support services for the greater Townsville community,” he said.
By the end of the evening the event had raised more than $50,000 overtaking the target of $30,000 and the donations were still incoming.
