DEFENCE solicitors for the driver involved in a boat crash where a Home Hill man went missing in floodwaters at Groper Creek have requested to cross examine witnesses, a court has heard.
Darren James Homan is alleged to have been dangerously operating the boat when 35-year-old Justin Scott disappeared in floodwaters on February 8.
Mr Scott’s body has never been found.
Homan was not required to appear in Ayr Magistrates Court on Wednesday where a letter from his solicitor was read out.
He is charged with dangerous operation or interfere with the operation of a vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm and one count of general obligation on persons involved with operation of a ship to operate it safely causing death.
Police prosecution acting Sergeant Tim Madsen said the brief of evidence was significant.
The matter has been adjourned until February 12.
