A lucky Kirwan man went into a “laughing fit” when he discovered what he thought was a $100,000 win, was actually a $175,000 Keno prize.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, held a Keno Classic 9 Spot winning entry to take home $175,364.
“It was in the afternoon. I go to the pub every couple of days, have a drink and put on some Keno,” he said.
“I usually just go home after that, so I don’t watch the draw.
“It wasn’t until I went and scanned the ticket at another venue a few days later that I was told I won.
“But the guy who scanned my ticket whispered it to me, so I actually thought I’d won just about $100,000.
“Then when I went and scanned the ticket at The Avenues Tavern Kirwan, that’s when I realised I’d actually won $175,000.”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his fun money, the winner said he’d already made some plans.
“Most of the money will go on the mortgage. But I am going to need a bigger boat for all the fishing I will be doing, so that’s also on the wish list,” he said.
The winning entry was purchased at The Avenues Tavern Kirwan.
The Avenues Tavern office manager Lianne Craig said the team could not be more thrilled for their winner.
“When he came in and we told him he won $175,000 he was very happy and told us the prize is going to help him so much. Which just makes us ecstatic,” she said.
