The newest creative hub to open in Townsville aims to unify the community in a tuneful harmony.
Uniting Townsville through music has been a lifelong dream for King Konz Music owner Costa Hagiaglou and his dream will finally come alive at his new musical location.
Mr Hagiaglou has spent the past two years saving, searching and envisioning his dream after he outgrew his teaching space at his North Ward family home.
The new premises on Hamilton St in North Ward will help make rock stars out of little musos and string together new musical connections.
Mr Hagiaglou said the official opening of the new King Konz Music today was the accumulation of 14 years of hard work.
“I’ve always had the idea in uniting the community and bringing people together and what better way to unite a community then through a music school,” he said.
“Music is one of those things that brings people together and it is a universal language that unites people no matter which culture you are from.”
Mr Hagiaglou currently teaches 110 students and is hoping to expand his musical talent to 200 students by July.
He said the new music school had employed eight new instructors. “I wanted to give young musicians an opportunity to get in the industry and work and I am still looking for people to come work for me,” he said.
Ray White Commercial Townsville leasing agent Peter McCann helped Mr Hagiaglou secure the 375 sqm hilltop space.
“St James Place is a great location overlooking the city and the cathedral and it is a great spot to get your creative juices flowing,” he said.
“It is one of the biggest creative hubs in the city.”
