A man has been sentenced for abusing police officers after almost crashing into their car.

Jordan Mathew Blackhurst narrowly missed hitting a police vehicle after cutting the corner of Goulding Ave onto Pinnacle Drive at Condon on April 15 this year.

The police were forced to swerve off the road to avoid a collision with Blackhurst.

Police prosecutor Liam Wise said police pulled Blackhurst over.

“Police tried to communicate with him as he was walking down the middle of the street and he has started yelling and using offensive language,” he said.

“He called police pig, c--t and black c--k.”

Mr Wise said when Blackhurst was arrested police found a plastic bong in the footwell of his vehicle and a knife.

The court heard preceding the April events, Blackhurst stole $10.01 worth of fuel from Coles Express Kirwan on March 25 this year.

Blackhurst pleaded guilty to 10 charges including stealing, drive without due care, public nuisance and obstruct police officer.

Defence solicitor Ralph Lake said Blackhurst was unemployed but had recently worked as a mango picker for three weeks.

Acting magistrate Peter Smid sentenced Blackhurst to 100 hours community service.

Blackhurst was disqualified from holding a drivers licence for four months.

Convictions were recorded.
