A chart topping musician has produced his latest rhythm and blues album from his home in Townsville.

Filled with old school RnB and soul sounds, Joel Sutton said this was a tribute to the music genre he’s grown up living and breathing.

The album features almost 30 of Mr Sutton’s favourite musicians and singers jamming out to the ‘all time classics’.

“It’s where my heart lies, rhythm and bluesis about the human condition and a whole range emotions,” he said.

“It’s got a long history and within rhythm and blues there’s so many different sub genres depending on where the sound came from whether it was the musicians moving out of Delta up to Chicago looking for work.

“The electric sound was born in Chicago, there’s that classic Mississippi folk sound or funky New Orleans guys playing their brand of blues.”

Titled Rhythm and Blues Revue Vol 1, the album was number 1 of the Australian blues and Roots Airplay Charts when it dropped in May.

Mr Sutton, who’s spent the best part of 30 years touring as a drummer with well-known acts like Johnno’s Blues Band, Chuck Berry Band, and Bondi Cigars, said this album was his chance to fine tune his productions skills.

“Just because you live in the regions it doesn’t mean you can’t create wonderful music and art and I guess this album is absolute proof of that,”

“Every song was different and had to be approached differently, I’d record the drums here and end up with a digital file and move it onto next musician via drop box with session notes

“After lots of toing and froing with tracks, I’d mix the album from here and I’m just so proud of the musicians and what they gave me, some of the performances are just extraordinary.”

The album is availble for download on Apple Music and Spotify, or to purchase at JB Hi Fi and Sanity.
