Participants in an unusual tour will travel 100km this weekend in the search of paranormal activity.
Paranormal Investigators Townsville will make the first trip of the year to the supernatural town of Ravenswood.
Legend has it the town is haunted with spirits of the past, with the heritage-listed Imperial Hotel a hotspot for ghosts.
It is said a young lady and a little girl, who both died on the premises many years ago, haunt the hotel.
Paranormal Investigators Townsville founder and owner Karina Looby will lead the tour and said strange things had been encountered on previous trips.
“We have had people who have seen the woman and have seen the little girl and I have personally seen the little girl’s feet. She was on the landing upstairs,” she said.
“I was standing there talking to some people and I turned around and saw her and I asked her to come back and play with me but she kept skipping along the hallway.”
A range of equipment is used on the tour to find the spirits. Infra-red night cameras, digital recorders and electro magnetic field machines help to pick up energy.
The most critical tool is Boobear, which has a computer on its back that can ask ghosts questions, acting as a medium between the human world and the spirit plane.
Ms Looby said the range of paranormal accessories helped to provoke a response from the ghosts.
“We use them to communicate … so we ask them to change the colours of the lights so they are responding to our questions,” she said.
“We have a crib and doll and they are trigger points trying to get a ghost or spirit to react to it and we have our cameras recording and if anything happens our cameras will pick it up.”
The tour will also explore the town and the rich history including the open cut mine, the local museum and the cemetery.
Ms Looby said that the overnight tour was a great way to get in touch with the spiritual realm.
“There is no guarantee anything will happen because we can’t summon (ghosts) but if there is energy around and people are in tune to it, they will pick it up,” she said.
