A CHANCE for Year 12 students to pick up their leavers jerseys helped give them a sense of belonging despite them now learning from home because of coronavirus restrictions.

Ignatius Park College vice-captain Harrison ‘Haz’ Keir was proud to be at the school previously attended by his dad, uncles and grandfather.

He turned up to a largely empty school on Friday to pick up his jersey with Haz printed on the back.

He said learning from home wasn’t too bad, despite preparing for end of year exams.

“You can kind of do it at your own pace, it means you can finish on Thursday or dragging it out to Sunday,” he said.

“At the start it was a bit unknown how things were going to be handled, I think a lot of people were stressed but I think our school has done a terrific job.”

Prefect Kai Simmons also picked up his leavers jersey, saying it felt good to once again see “familiar surroundings” and catch up with friends.
