Popular TV show Ninja Warrior has become a reality for Hermit Park State School students.

POPULAR TV show Ninja Warrior has become a reality for Hermit Park State School students.

The school recently unveiled its Ninja Warrior-themed playground, complete with warped wall, quad steps and monkey bars.

“We’re the first (school) in Townsville to get a warped wall,”
P&C member Corrina Goldburg said.

“It’s been so popular, the kids go crazy for it.”

The new playground was funded by a grant, donations from parents and thousands earned through the school’s Return and Earn scheme.

The school managed to raise more than $11,000 through the container recycling program. The lime green playground has become the top pick during lunchbreak.

A special roster has needed to be devised to allow each year group to have a fair go.

P&C member Samantha Talbot said the Ninja Warrior-themed playground offered “all the benefits of exercise”.

“It’s a big challenge to reach the top of the wall,” Ms Talbot said.

Ms Talbot added that the year had been tough for students going through the COVID-19 lockdown at the start of the year, but believed the new playground provided a light at the end of the tunnel.

“We wanted to get this so the Year 6s could have a play on it before finishing,” she said.
