Friends mourn beloved motorcyclist after fatal two-vehicle crash in Mount Isa

A beloved motorcyclist known for his ‘cheeky smile’ and love for the open road has been honoured by friends after he died in a devastating crash.

A beloved motorcyclist known for his ‘cheeky smile’ and love for the open road has been honoured by friends after he died in a devastating crash in Mount Isa.

Shane Jennings was tragically killed after the Harley Davidson motorbike he was riding was involved in a crash with a Toyota Camry on Duchess Rd, Healy around 11.30pm on Saturday.

Mr Jennings was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the Camry escaped uninjured.

Tributes have since flooded social media, with friends and family remembering the motorcyclist by his affectionate nicknames “Trumphy” and “Famous.”

“Ride high and free, my brother Shane Andrew Jennings, a.k.a Famous,” wrote William Hazle. “Knees in the breeze forever now, my bro. Gonna miss you so much.

“You were always gonna go on that saddle. Love you, will have a Jack Daniels for you, my old partner in crime and everything else. Give ‘em hell, we know you will, Famous …”

Nita Cannon shared her sorrow, posting, “Just can’t believe it. You are always my family. Ride it like you stole it, my beautiful angel.”

Kim Reitano echoed the grief of many, saying, “Certainly a sad day — we already miss your cheeky smile and happy face. Rest easy.”

Yvonne Andrews reflected on their last moments together, adding, “If only we had known yesterday was the last time we would see you, old mate, our hearts are broken.”

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has any dashcam footage that could assist investigations, to contact them.
