A 49-year-old man has been killed in a single-vehicle accident on the Flinders Highway west of Charters Towers.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after the man died in the crash at Homestead.
Police said that around 12.40pm a car was travelling west on the Flinders Highway when the vehicle has left the roadway and hit a tree.
The driver and sole occupant, an Ingham man, died at the scene.
Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed that the man had been trapped in the vehicle before he was freed in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, the Bruce Highway south of Ayr is closed in both directions at the Burdekin River Bridge while emergency crews attend to a truck fire on Thursday morning.
