A burger shop voted Townsville’s best announced it will be shutting doors to one of its stores at the end of the week.
After four years of operating out of its Hyde Park store, Real Burger Co owners Bridget and Sandy Contarino announced they would stop flipping burgers on Bayswater Rd on Sunday.
The husband and wife team, in a post on Facebook, thanked the store’s customers for their support.
“On a personal note thank you for your support fam, we’ve had a hugely successful and fun four years here and we are very proud of what we have achieved. But now’s the time to move on and we look forward to bigger and better opportunities in the future,” the post said.
Real Burger Co will continue to operate at its North Shore shop and food truck, which opened last year.
The burger has been a Townsville favourite and was voted the city’s best burger shop by the Bulletin in 2017.
It made a name for itself by creating the Bogan Burger, which was launched for Australia Day last year and was made with an Aussie meat pie as the bun loaded up with the classics — beef pattie, bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, onions and grilled pineapple — finished with a melty beer cheese, tomato sauce and topped with another meat pie.
Another Townsville fast food favourite, Players Pizza, closed at the start of this month.
