Doggie left for dead hopes to find new home
Polar, 2, was struck by a car and left for dead on a street when a stranger found him. Now, he's looking for his forever home.

Just shy of two years old, Polar had lived in four homes before he was struck by a car and left for dead on the street.
The maremma was rescued by an Ayr woman who rushed the malnourished dog to a Townsville animal rescue.
Now taking the name Polar, the affectionate pup is in the care of Townsville Foster and Rehoming Animals and there is hope his fifth home will be his last.
“When he went into the vet he was nearly black, he had just been running around the streets, not being looked after,” director Angela Atkinson said.
“Even to touch him now he just feels like he has grease all over him because he has been on the streets for such a long time that I don’t know if his hair is falling out due to neglect.
“Everyone keeps asking me if he’s shaved, I don’t know if he has been shaved for summer or winter or if someone couldn’t manage his coat and it got matted.”
Ms Atkinson said Polar was half the weight of a healthy dog of his breed and required surgery on his leg when he was rescued by the woman.
“I got this call from this lady just distraught, she was bawling her eyes out saying this dog’s been hit by this car, no one will assist, council won’t assist, police won’t assist, we can’t get a hold of (the) RSPCA inspector in the area,” Ms Atkinson said.
“He’s got a plate in his leg, he’s half the weight he is meant to be for his breed and size
“He’s going to need a home with a nice big backyard and 1.8m fence and someone who is going to show him kindness and love because he is so, so scared of men.”
