David Tapp, previously of Palm Island, dies in fatal Ingham car crash
An Ingham man who died in a car crash has been remembered as a loving father and respected member of the Palm Island community.

An elderly man who died in a Hinchinbrook car crash on Thursday as been remembered as a loving father, a passionate North Queensland Cowboys supporter and a respected member of the Palm Island community.
Daughter Joyce Tapp, 25, confirmed that beloved dad David Tapp, 73, most recently of Ingham, had died in the tragic accident at Victoria Plantation.
“He was just a hard-working man, he was always there to help the community … he loved Palm and he loved everybody,” she said.
“He will be missed by a lot of people, everyone on Palm is shattered, that’s how well-known and well-loved he was.”
She said her father was originally from South Australia before moving to Palm Island where he lived for two decades.
“He was the manager of the barge service and that’s where he met my mum (Stephanie) and he had no reason to leave then because they had me.”
She said her father had a total of five daughters, namely three older daughters from a previous marriage, a step-daughter and herself, as well as five grandchildren.
Ms Tapp said her father had spent the last few years travelling up and down the coast enjoying his retirement.
She said her father loved the NRL Cowboys from the club’s inception in 1995.
The second victim of the two-car crash, a 76-year-old Forrest Beach woman, on the Ingham-Forrest Beach Rd was listed as being in a stable condition in Townsville University Hospital on Monday.
She suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident.
