Preschool dancers from Townsville Academy of Performing Arts will make their TV debut in season two of Nickelodeon’s Ready Set Dance program.
Airing daily at 8.30am on the Nick Jr. channel, Ready Set Dance teaches kindergarten aged children a combo of dancing genres in a one-hour program.

Townsville Academy of Performing Arts principal Katrina Sayce said the opportunity to appear on the children’s show was an honour.
“Nick Jr. picked us because we won a few awards with them last year out of 230 (dance) studios across Australia and New Zealand,” she said.
“I was so excited for the children. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to dance in a TV show that goes worldwide.”
Ms Sayce and four tiny dancers made the trip to Sydney in January to film a ballet segment for the program over one day.
She said they only had two days to teach the routine to the dancers.
“It is the rawness that makes it magical because they want to reach out to every little child to know that everyone can do this no matter shape or colour,” she said.
“I hope the kids look back and think, wow, look what we got to do.”
Ms Sayce hopes Townsville might be invited to dance in the big smoke again.
“We have a wonderful relationship with the Ready Set Dance team now so we would like to think that there will be more opportunities down the track,” she said.
