The reopening of waterways for recreational uses will allow Townsville Water Ski Club members to get back to training on Ross River as they gear up for competitions.
From today the Ross River boat ramp at Loam Island will be reopened as the Queensland Government eases COVID-19 restrictions.

Townsville Water Ski Club president Gary Pollock will be making the most of the long weekend, taking his daughter Hannah out today and on Monday.
“We’ve got a lot of members keen to get back on the water,” he said.
“Now we can get back to training it’s excellent, because if you don’t use it, you lose it.”
Mr Pollock said all state and national water skiing events have been cancelled.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said that it was essential people continued to maintain social distancing and enhanced hygiene practices.
“From Saturday, residents will be able to get back on to Ross River in their boats, provided social distancing and hygiene are maintained, it’s within 50km of their home and outings are limited to members of the same household or an individual and one friend,” she said.
