A TEENAGER has argued with police they did not have the power to confiscate her drugs during an early morning raid.

Police attended an address at 5.30am on January 3 last year where Clairece Margaret Doolan, 18, was staying.

The Townsville Magistrates Court heard police found a water pipe, scissors and an electric grinder with a small amount of cannabis inside.

Police prosecutor Tasman Murphy said Doolan told police they did not possess the authority to take her drugs.

“The defendant told police, ‘you can’t take it, you don’t have a warrant’ then she told police she didn’t care if they took it because she would just go and buy more,” he said.

Doolan pleaded guilty to possessing anything for use in the commission of a crime.

Magistrate Ross Mack asked Doolan’s defence solicitor if her client had sourced more drugs after the raid.

“Tell me, did she go and buy some more?”

She replied she was unsure.

Mr Mack told Doolan to “keep out of trouble”.

Doolan was placed on a $200 recognisance for six months.

No conviction was recorded.
