One of Townsville’s hottest restaurants has opened a wine, gin and cocktail bar.
Botaniq has been developed by chef owners Matt Merrin and Ty Samuel on level one of the Bridgewater Restaurant in South Townsville.
Mr Merrin said Botaniq offered Townsville’s most extensive, affordable and unique selection of wines from iconic and boutique producers in Australia and around the world.
“There hasn’t been an exclusive wine bar in Townsville for many years and we know
that our offering of 160 wines starting from $35 a bottle, along with 30 wines
available by the glass is something that is unmatched in the region,” Mr Merrin said.
“We are very excited to finally share our new wine bar concept with the community,
and have been waiting for the right time.”
Mr Merrin said there were amazing collections of champagnes, white wines, red wines, non-
alcoholic varieties and Pet Nat or natural sparkling wines which were preservative free.
An eclectic line up of gin, along with classic and contemporary cocktails, local and
craft beers offers seasonal variety in a vibrant space that invites time to relax and enjoy a
cool drink.
The extensive beverage list is complemented by a new bar menu, created by Ty Samuel that encourages grazing in a tapas style.
The bar will be open to the public from 5pm on April 9.
Bookings are recommended via the Bridgewater website at bridgewaterq.com.au.
