A boatie ruined their day with a costly error before making it out on the water.
A reversing mishap led to the large boat flipping off its trailer as it was being lowered in at the Townsville Recreational Boating Park.
Witness Matt Palmer was returning to shore after a day fishing when he noticed the boat on its side on one of the ramps on Saturday.
“Apparently what’s happened it lifted up a little and the truck started to slip on the ramp,” he said.
“The trailer has actually hit the pontoon and sort of jack knifed.”
Mr Palmer said a crane was used to lift the boat from the ramp and place it back on the trailer.
“Apparently it’s 5.5 tonnes,” he said.
The incident turned into quite the spectacle at the popular boat ramp but Mr Palmer believed the damage to be minor.
“It didn’t look too bad. It was very close going into the water,” he said.
The boatie left the ramp without getting the expensive boat wet.
