Banjo’s Bakery Cafe set to open new Idalia store, the 50th across Australia

With treats including curried scallop pies and raspberry tarts an iconic Aussie bakery is preparing to open a new store in Idalia, the 50th across the country.

Following on the success of their West End store, Banjo’s Bakery and Cafe are opening a new store at Idalia this weekend which will mark their 50th store across Australia.

Founded in Tasmania in 1984, the bakery has grown to now have stores all across the country serving up pies, pastries, bread and morning coffees enjoyed by over 8 million customers each year.

Known for traditional favourites such as Tasmanian curried scallop pies, as well as more daring flavoured pies including Chicken parmigiana and Double Cheeseburger, Idalia franchisee Taimoor Ashraf said he was excited to be adding another local in Townsville which will also create 50 new jobs.

“Townsville has always been incredibly supportive of Banjo’s, and we’re so grateful to be opening another set of doors in this wonderful community. There’s no better place to celebrate our 50th store milestone than right here in Idalia,” he said.

Acting chief executive Bradley Saxby said reaching the 50-store milestone was something the company was incredibly proud of’.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing our signature flavours and community values to Idalia,” he said

Marking the special occasion by giving back to the community, Banjo’s Idalia will be donating $1 from every transaction on opening day to AEIOU Townsville, who supports children with autism.

“We’re passionate about supporting local initiatives wherever we go, and opening our 50th store is a perfect opportunity to give back to the community that’s embraced us so warmly. It’s about more than serving quality food — it’s about making a meaningful impact,” said Mr Ashraf.

Banjo’s Idalia will open on December 13 located at 31 Darcy Drive, with the grand opening event running from 6am to 9am.

The store will be open from 5am to 6pm daily.

To celebrate the opening Banjo’s will be giving customers the chance to win one of 10 $100 gift cards.
