Feeling mums deserve something a little extra special for Mother’s Day this year, Bakehouse on Eyre has gone the extra mile to prepare luxury hampers.

Owner Vanessa McKinnon said the Tender Loving Cheese packages she had been busy preparing this week had been popular and she only had a handful left.

She said the high-end collection of foods, including an assortment of cheeses, freshly baked baguettes and olives, and a $40 bottle of shiraz complete with wine glasses was a perfect gift for mothers and grandmothers this Sunday.

“I feel for them, mums have been extra supermums this year,” Ms McKinnon said.

“And I think quite a few (hampers) are going to grandmas.”

Ms McKinnon said she felt for the many Townsville mothers juggling having their children at home during the coronavirus school lockdowns.

She urged people to get in quick and order a hamper, with only a few more available.

To place an order, contact Bakehouse on Eyre via its Facebook page.

Ms McKinnon said popular cupcakes and mixed doughnuts would also be available at the weekend for families that want some tasty favourites while out enjoying the Mother’s Day weekend and eased COVID-19 restrictions.

Bakehouse on Eyre has continued to operate during the coronavirus saga but has had to reduce its number of staff working.

Ms McKinnon thanked the customers for their support during the crisis and she looked forward to business returning back to normal, hoping it will be sooner rather than later.

Those looking to get out of the house at the weekend are reminded to stay within a 50km radius from their home, but there is plenty to do within a short trip from Townsville.

The State Government eased COVID-19 restrictions at the start of the month, allowing people to ride a motorcycle, jetski and even shop for clothes and shoes.

Families can enjoy having a picnic over on Magnetic Island, Alligator Creek, Dan Gleeson Memorial Gardens or along The Strand.
