Police have launched investigations following armed robberies of two Townsville businesses, just minutes apart on Tuesday morning.
Parkside Gardens Shopping Centre’s TSG Tobacco Station on Bamford Lane, Kirwan, was struck by two males armed with knives, just after 8am.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said no one was hurt in the incident, where an employee locked themselves away.
Unable to access any cash, the robbers grabbed packets of food and cigarette lighters before fleeing the scene.
Fifteen minutes later, police were called to a convenience store on Fulham Rd, Heatley, where another armed robbery had taken place.
A male armed with a knife had entered the business demanding money.
He fled empty-handed with two other males when a customer entered the store.
Police are investigating both incidents. No arrests have been made.
