The man accused of stabbing his sister to death will spend Christmas behind bars.

Police allege Samantha Rose Bong, was stabbed multiple times by her brother Dennis William Sore on February 22 this year.

Police were called to a Granville St address at Pimlico at 1am where Ms Bong had suffered fatal stab wounds.

The 49-year-old was declared dead at the scene. Mr Sore has been charged with one count of murder-domestic violence.

His case was heard in the Townsville Magistrates Court yesterday but Mr Sore did not appear.

Mr Sore’s defence solicitor Kevin Amantea told Magistrate Ken Taylor that he was still analysing a lot of the evidence.

“I did receive some forensic material that I still need to go through,” he said.

Mr Amantea did not apply for bail and asked for the case to be adjourned until next year.

The Mt Isa man’s case will return to the court on February 3, 2021.
