The Butterfly Effect to embark on 21 years of Begins Here Regional Tour

A much-loved Aussie band will visit Townsville as one of the first stops on their regional tour, with their drummer saying North Queensland is one of their favourite places in the country.

Celebrating 21 years since their debut album, Aussie rock band The Butterfly Effect will be stopping by Townsville on their latest national tour.

Playing the entirety of their album Begins Here due to demand from fans along with other hits, the quartet will begin their 21 Years of Begins Here 2025 Regional Tour in late January.

Performing at the Dalrymple Hotel on January 31, Townsville is the second stop on the tour.

The band, who hail from Brisbane, made a name for themselves in the Aussie music scene when their debut album reached number 23 on the ARIA charts and topped the independent charts before going on to be gold-certified in 2006.

Known for songs such as A Slow Descent, Reach and Beautiful Mine, the band have fans all across the country and around the world.

Drummer Ben Hall said the tour came about due to demand from fans to choose the songs.

“For this tour, we basically threw it open to the fans to tell us where they wanted us to play,” he said.

“We put most of the suggestions into a voting form, the punters voted, and from there, we made the final cut. Some towns had a massive amount of interest, but unfortunately, finding a venue proved too difficult this time around. Next time, we might just bring a stage on the back of a truck.”

Mr Hall said the band was keen to return to Townsville, saying North Queensland is “one of their favourite places, if not their favourite place in Australia.”

“For us, regional tours are usually smaller, tighter venues. It’s more rock and roll,” he said.

“It’s more of an honest rock show than it is the big stage with all the lights and that sort of thing. We really love that sort of stuff.”
