Teddy Wesley charged with alleged assault of mass-shooter Benjamin Hoffmann

Notorious mass-shooter Benjamin Hoffmann has revealed he was allegedly assaulted while on remand in Darwin prison.

Notorious mass-shooter Benjamin Hoffmann was allegedly assaulted while on remand in Darwin’s prison.

Teddy Wesley appeared in the Darwin Local Court charged with the aggravated assault of Hoffmann while they were both in Darwin Correction Centre.

The fresh charges were heard by the court for the first time, 19 months after the alleged incident on April 18, 2021.

On Monday, lawyer Matt Hubber, who is representing Wesley on seven unrelated charges, said he was unaware of the prison assault allegations.

Mr Hubber said he could not represent Wesley on the prison assault allegations, as he also represented Hoffmann in a different prison stoush.

The mass-shooter faces his own assault charges for allegedly throwing hot water at another inmate in November.

Hoffmann was due to face court on January 18.

Wesley also faced court for an unrelated matter, where it was alleged he fired a gun at another person.

He was charged with discharging a firearm at another person causing danger, unlawful entry, damage to property, possessing an unlicensed firearm and aggravated assault.

He also faced one count of trespassing.

Wesley will remain in custody on remand until his next hearing on January 16.

Mr Hubber said he would refer Wesley to Legal Aid over the alleged prison assault, with a hearing date to be set later.
