Pair extradited accused of $700,000 drug trafficking operation

October 22: A man has been extradited to face trial over a $700,000 drug trafficking operation.

The 49-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman are being flown from NSW to Hobart, after they failed to appear in the Supreme Court on Monday October 14.

The pair are on trial for trafficking in a controlled substance, where it is alleged they were involved in the importing of approximately $700,000 worth of illicit drugs into Tasmania in 2019.

The investigation into the drug trafficking is part of Operation Advance – a joint operation between Tasmania Police and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

In a statement, Tasmania Police and AFP recognised help provided by NSW Police in the extradition, after officers arrested the pair on Sunday.
