Detective Acting Inspector Jason Jones confirmed the two died in a head-on collision while riding with a group of 10 friends, with no other injuries reported.

“The crash occurred just after a crest, and they’ve both … around the middle of the road, from what we can tell,” he said.

He said the two men, aged 23 and 30, died upon the arrival of emergency services.

All involved were wearing helmets and protective equipment, police confirmed.

“It was just unfortunate circumstances for the crash resulted in horrific injuries that caused their death,” the officer said.

Detective Jones said they were riding unregistered bikes without a licence.

“In tragic events like this, it’s always a timely reminder that the rules are there for a reason, and that you need to have licenses to ride motorcycles, and that requires training as well, and that’s very important,” he said.
