TasTAFE’s chief executive officer has resigned and taken a job interstate, it was revealed on Wednesday.
Grant Dreher has accepted a role as CEO of the William Angliss Institute in Victoria, Australia’s largest specialist centre for food, tourism, hospitality and events education and training, TasTAFE said in response to an inquiry from the Mercury.
The appointment was revealed on the William Angliss website a week ago, but has not been announced locally.
Mr Dreher’s last day with TasTAFE will be April 25, 2025.
Minister for Skills and Training Felix Ellis said Mr Dreher had done a terrific job.
“Mr Dreher has resigned and got a job interstate, where he’s from,” the minister said.
“We thank him for all of his amazing work on leading the TAFE journey.
“We finish up on great terms, and he’s been really instrumental in leading the work that we’ve had with the transition from TasTAFE.”
Mr Ellis rejected the suggestion there had been a falling-out between him and the CEO.
“We’re strongly aligned and as I say, we thank Mr Dreher for his amazing work,” he said.
“He’s done incredible things, leading TasTAFE and ensuring that we putting learners at the centre of everything that we do and we have a TAFE that looks more like the businesses that it serves.”
Mr Dreher held the position since February 2021.
