After a fire destroyed its undercover drive-thru three years ago, the South Hobart Tip Shop is ready to reopen it.
However, there is one problem.
“We’ve been using a temporary driveway and storing stuff where the driveway used to be,” tip shop operations co-ordinator Matthew Parry said.
“So now we’ve got to reopen our old driveway and clear all the stuff out.”
The business is having “a once in a tip time sale” on January 30 to get rid of all the stuff.
“There is going to be anything and everything there,” Mr Parry said.
“The only stuff we can’t sell is electrical stuff that we have to test and tag before we can sell it.”
Mr Perry hoped the sale would create buzz around people reusing things and buying second-hand.
“One of our main missions is to keep stuff out of landfill,” he said.
“We are the last stop before people throw things into landfill. We’ve been very busy over the summer with lots of donations and salvaging from the tip.
“We do try and take as much usable stuff as we can. We just want to give stuff new homes.”
