An order to build the Macquarie Point stadium on Hobart’s waterfront is set to pass the Legislative Council after a majority of members indicated they would vote in support.

The government’s final bid to win approval to construct the $1.13bn stadium is being debated in the upper house.

It needs to secure the votes of eight members in order to pass.

Member for McIntrye Casey Hiscutt was the latest to indicate his backing on Wednesday afternoon.

Three Liberal and two Labor members of the upper house have indicated they will vote ‘yes’, in line with their parties’ policy platforms.
