THERE are long queues at Hobart’s iconic Salamanca Market this morning as locals and tourists wait to sign in.
Market crews and safety officers walked up and down the lengthy queues thanking patrons for their patience.
They explained that due to COVID-19 restrictions, a limit of 4000 people at any one time applied to the market.
“We’ve reached capacity and you have to wait until we are able to let more people in,” a safety officer told people queuing in Montpelier Retreat, where the line stretched more than 100m.
Most people in the queue seemed content to enjoy the autumn sunshine and the queues moved at a steady pace.
