Songs such as “What’s My Scene”, “Bittersweet and “Like Wow” turned Sydney band Hoodoo Gurus into Australian music icons in the 1980s.

Now, those songs are set to soundtrack New Year’s Eve revellers heading to Tasmania’s Taste Of Summer.

The Hoodoo Gurus will perform live during the annual end-of-year event along the Hobart Waterfront.

Featuring an expected 75 stallholders, Taste of Summer curator Jo Cook said this year’s event was shaping up to be its biggest.

“Visitors and locals alike will be able to enjoy a day out at Australia’s best food and drink festival, catching up with friends and family at this beautiful time of year to enjoy Hobart’s waterfront,” Ms Cook said.

“It’s a fun, family-friendly and affordable way to celebrate summer in Tasmania.”

With six top ten albums in Australia to their name, the Hoodoo Gurus were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007.

The band was at its commercial peak in the 1980s and 90s, charting in the UK and US.

After breaking up in 1988, the Hoodoo Gurus reformed in 2003.

The now four-piece released their tenth album, Chariot of the Gods, in 2022.

Early bird tickets for the Taste of Summer are on sale on Saturday.

General admission tickets for New Year’s Eve are $81 for adults and $27 for children, with early bird passes for every other day of the event for $32.

The Taste of Summer runs from December 28 to January 4.
