Beloved podcasters Toni and Ryan are in town for the Hawks-GWS clash at Launceston’s UTAS Stadium. But there’s something else that has brought them down from the mainland.

There are many things Toni Lodge and Ryan Jon Dunn want to tick off on their first trip to Tassie, chief among them, a stop to the supermarket.
“We need to try Duck River Butter!” Ms Lodge said.
“We had, like, 20 people recommend it to us.”
Along with trying the famed butter, the duo are in town to join Tassie fans in watching Saturday night’s clash between Hawthorn and GWS at Launceston’s UTAS Stadium.
It marks their first trip south since the launch of their hugely popular Toni and Ryan Podcast in 2021.
For Hawthorn-mad Mr Dunn, the game was the perfect excuse for a weekend getaway.
So too for recent convert Ms Lodge, who given the team’s recent success was keen to dispel any suspicion of having jumped on a bandwagon.
“I got in two weeks last season before we got good,” Ms Lodge said.
“I’m the lucky charm.”
On their Tasmanian odyssey, the two have made various stops around Hobart including at Triple M for a breakfast segment, Queens Domain for a Parkrun, and North Hobart’s Bar Wa Izakaya for a coveted lunch reservation.
But for Mr Dunn, watching the game from a corporate box alongside eight podcast fans fulfils a “lifelong dream”.
“I just thought how many more chances will we get to see the Hawks play in Launceston?” he said.
“And I don’t know when the Tassie Devils will start, so we ran a little competition on the show.
“Hundreds of people registered in the first hour, and it just felt right.”
On whether he would ever jump ship, he said he would always have a soft spot for the Devils as an “unofficial second team”.
And as for final tips?
“Hawks by 12,” Ms Lodge said.
“I tip that our box will be running low on food and drinks by the end,” said Mr Dunn.
