Major sports apparel and equipment retailer Rebel Sport has taken another shot at the Tasmanian market, launching a second flagship store in the state’s north.

The 160th Rebel outlet in York St, Launceston, will include popular brands such as Lorna Jane, PE Nation, Adidas originals, Speedo, and Muscle Nation.

Spread over two levels, the 1862sq m store also features a unique “Basketball Experience Zone”, encouraging customers to get active and shoot some hoops.

Rebel portfolio strategy general manager Ryan Pittaway said the company had wanted to establish a second Tasmanian outlet for more than a decade and was excited to open in Launceston.

“Tasmania is an important state in our national plans, and we’re excited to be expanding our reach with our new store in Launceston,” Mr Pittaway said.

“We know the power that sport has in building communities, so we’re inviting all residents of ‘Launnie’ to celebrate their new local Rebel Sport store.”

To mark the opening, the first 100 Rebel active customers in-store received a Rebel Sport voucher worth between $10 and $500.

Homegrown Olympic golden girl Ariarne Titmus is set to make an appearance at the store on October 13, and Rebel active members have a chance to win an exclusive meet and greet with the swimmer if they enter before October 3.

Rebel Sport Launceston store manager Kia Rogers said she and her team were thrilled to bring the store to Launceston and help inspire the next sporting generation.

“We’re very excited to be here and have the whole team on board for opening day in Launceston,” Ms Rogers said.

“There was a bit of a line-up when the doors opened at 8.30am this morning.

“It was a very proud moment seeing everyone come inside and experience Rebel Launceston for the first time.”

The store is open seven days a week and will be open until 9pm on Thursdays.
