WEARING her grandmother’s dress and surrounded by her closest friends and family, South Australia’s Edwina Bartholomew has tied the knot in a country wedding.
The popular Sunrise presenter wed partner of seven years, Neil Varcoe, on the couple’s farm at Glen Alice, west of the Blue Mountains.
“It’s so wonderful to be able to share our wedding photos,” Bartholomew said.
“Everyone has been so kind since we announced our engagement last April. We have felt very loved.”
Bartholomew’s wedding dress has been worn by three generations of her family, including her grandmother in 1944, with the veil given to her great grandmother by her sister for her wedding in 1915 and the dress restored by Melbourne designer Sonia Cappellazzo.
The couple, who met when they worked for 2GB radio, opted for the lunchtime wedding on their 1890s farmhouse, Warramba, today.
Sixty of the 160 guests camped on the property with Bartholomew’s Sunrise colleagues Sam Armytage, Natalie Barr and Mark Berretta in attendance.
The couple planned the wedding themselves, even down to drying the floral arrangements and picking up candles from Ikea.
They sourced food and wine from the local Mudgee region with guests taking home a gift of honey from the couple’s farm.
Her sister, Margaret, was Maid of Honour while friends and uni friends were part of the bridal party.
Having previously hosted Dancing With The Stars, Bartholomew enlisted the help of professional dancer Aric Yegudkin to help the couple prepare for their first dance.
The couple spend any down time they have at Warramba — which they bought two years ago — and have a herd of Scottish Highland cattle they’ve named Billy Connolly, Ewan McGregor, Susan Boyle, Annie Lennox, Tilda Swinton and Shirley Manson.
