We are taking you on Safari!

DID you enjoy Zoo Month?

We did - from learning about the endangered animals being cared for at Taronga Zoo Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, to building the fantastic Wild Bunch cardboard animals, and then watching them come to life on our phones!

Then we also launched live streams, taking you inside the Chimpanzee and Giraffe homes in Sydney, where the animals are cared for by the dedicated staff, all while enjoying wonderful views across our city.

All of this supported by Kleenex Cottonelle, who have really helped bring the zoo into your homes.

If you missed any of our seven animals, scroll down to the FAQs to find out how to get them delivered.

In the meantime, Happy Safari-ing!

PLEASE HELP THESE BEAUTIFUL ANIMALS

The Sumatran Tiger is illegally hunted in the wild for its skin and body parts – believed to have medicinal powers and act as a strong talisman due to the tiger’s power and strength.

Taronga is helping to fund desperately needed Wildlife Protection Units (WPUs) in Sumatra to try to preserve this vital habitat for tigers and other endangered animals.

Each of the WPUs is trained in first aid, GPS navigation and orientation, evidence collection, wildlife data collection, and human-animal conflict mitigation.

They monitor the activity of elusive wild tigers using camera traps, and search for evidence of illegal poaching and logging.

Your donation will make a real difference to the conservation of the Sumatran Tiger.

MEET THE ANIMALS! VIDEOS AND GALLERIES

THEY are the pride of Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo - a trio of lion cubs who are equal parts curious, carnivorous and completely adorable.

The two girls, Zuri and Makeba, and an as-yet unnamed boy are the first lion cubs ever born at the zoo, but keeper Roger Brogan said it had been worth the near-four decade wait.

Newman the echidna puggle was just two months old when a bulldozer ripped apart his little world in Coonamble.

Since then he has been brought to Taronga Zoo and, as can be seen in this video, has recuperated nicely. He as also doubled in size in that time.

This record-breaking pumpkin was a winner at the Royal Easter Show but no match for Taronga Zoo’s elephants.

The 728kg monster pumpkin looked average compared to the pachyderms. The adults Asian elephants Porntip and Pak Boon and calves Pathi Harn and Tukta made light work of smashing the giant squash.

PLEASE HELP OUR CLOSEST NEIGHBOURS

Want to do your part to help endangered orang-utans in Borneo?

In the last 60 years, the orang-utan population has halved. What can we do about this? By raising awareness of their situation and choosing responsibly sourced paper products, we can help with conservation efforts.

Orang-utans rely on the forest to survive. The Bornean orang-utan is now listed as endangered on the IUCN’s (International Union for Conservation of Nature’s) Red List of Threatened Species, and 75% of them live outside protected areas – many in areas managed by timber companies.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THESE 3D ANIMALS?

Mibo’s paper animals have been delighting children and their parents since 2010.

The cut, fold and glue method used to make the creatures encourages children to use their fine motor skills, while educating them about the magnificent creatures that we share this planet with.

Now you can learn more about the Mibo menagerie in our 3 new books; The Safari Set, The Polar Pack and The Jungle Crew.

There are also pop out animals to make in the back of the book, so you can create your own wildlife scene.

Mibo’s animals are also now available on a range of organic cotton children’s clothes and accessories, you can see this range from Little Frenchy.

Mibo also works with a number of charities and organisations promoting the conservation of animals. We are currently supporting an Australian organisation who are fundraising to build a much need Orang-utan sanctuary in Borneo. Find out more here.
