Australia Day is fast approaching, with most people finetuning plans on how they’ll make the most out of the public holiday.
With different business and franchises operating at various times, it can be slightly confusing trying to figure out what’s open and what’s shut on Australia Day.
The Advertiser has complied the ultimate guide on everything you need to know about which stores will be open, and which stores will close.
SUPERMARKETS
Woolworths
Woolworths stores in metropolitan suburbs will be closed on January 26, however the Rundle Mall store in Adelaide’s CBD will be open from 11am to 5pm.
All regional Woolworth stores will be trading from 8am to 8pm. These include Mount Barker, Millicent, Naracoorte, Mount Barker, Victor Harbour, Goolwa.
As well as, Strathalbyn, Berri, Loxton, Renmark, Waikerie, Clare, Kadina, Port Pirie, Whyalla and Port Augusta.
For people living in metropolitan areas who urgently need to do last-minute shopping, there are several petrol stations stocking Woolworths goods at suburbs such as Hackney, West Richmond, Felixstow, Blair Athol, Somerton Park, Eden Hills and O’Halloran Hill.
Coles
All the metropolitan stores in the state will be closed on January 26.
However, Coles store in Rundle Place will trade from 11am to 5pm.
Regional stores including Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Mount Barker, Murray Bridge Green, Mount Gambier, Berri, Port Augusta, Whyalla and Victor Harbour will open from 8am to 8pm.
Costco
South Australia’s only Costco warehouse located in Kilburn will be closed on Australia Day.
ALDI
Like Coles and Woolworths, ALDI’s metropolitan stores across South Australia will be closed on Australia Day.
Stores found in Murry Bridge, Nuriootpa, Victor Harbor and Whyalla will be open from 8:30am to 8:00pm.
Other regional stores such as Port Pirie and Berri will trade from 8.30am to 7pm, while Kadina, Mt Barker and Mt Gambier stores will remain open from 8:30am to 9pm.
Foodland and IGA
Customers are advised to check trading hours with local Foodland stores, as trading hours for Foodland and IGA significantly vary between metropolitan and regional stores on Australia Day.
LIQUOR STORES
Australia’s most popular alcohol retailers like Dan Murphy’s, BWS, Liquorland, Booze Brothers will be open on Australian Day – but it’s better to stock up in the early days.
BWS
Customers are advised to confirm the open and closing times at their local BWS, as metropolitan and regional stores will be trading at different between 8am to 11pm.
Dan Murphy’s
Metropolitan and regional stores will be open from 9am to 7pm.
Liquorland
All in-store metropolitan shops will be open from 9am to 9pm, while drive-through services located in Payneham and Grand Junction will trade from 10am to 10pm.
First Choice Liquor Superstore
FCLS’s Unley store will be open from 8am to 9pm, while the Hindmarsh, Collinswood, Ingle Farm and Golden Grove stores will be closed at the same time but open up from 9am.
Booze Brothers
Their tavern bottle shop will open from 9am and shut at 9pm, while their other shops located at the Mile End Hotel, The Duck Inn and The Unley will open and shut an hour later.
DEPARTMENT STORES
Target
All of the Target stores across South Australia will be closed except for Target Centrepoint at Rundle Mall, which will open from 11am to 5pm.
Kmart
The only Kmart store that will remain open is the Rundle Mall store, which will trade from 11am to 5pm.
Ikea
Ikea’s store located near Adelaide Airport will remain open on January 26 from 9am to 5pm.
Myer and David Jones
If you’re looking to head to Myer and/ore David Jones on Australia, your only bet is the Rundle Mall store, which will be open from 11am to 5pm.
Other stores found inside Westfield at Marion and Tea Tree Plaza will shut for the public holiday.
Bunnings Warehouse
Every Bunning Warehouse store around the SA will stay open between. 9am to 5pm.
SHOPPING CENTRES
Metropolitan shopping centres will be shut for the day, including Elizabeth City Centre, Armada Armadale Shopping Centre, Colonnades Shopping Centre, Paralowie Plaza Shopping.
As well as Hollywood Plaza, Munno Para Shopping City and Castle Plaza.
Westfield Shopping Centre
As per previous years, the Marion, West Lakes and Tea Tree Plaza Westfield shopping centres will be shut on Australia Day.
However, surrounding venues such as cinemas and restaurants will be open at different times.
Rundle Mall Plaza
Stores inside Rundle Mall Plaza will be open between 11am to 5pm, however customers are advised to check individual opening hours for each store.
Adelaide Central Market
The markets will be closed on Australian Day.
Burnside Village
Burnside Village will be closed on January 26, which include all the stores located inside.
Harbour Town
Stores located at Harbour Town will between 11am to 5pm, but will open and/or close at their own discretion.
BANKS AND POST OFFICES
All the banks across the state including Westpac, NAB, Commonwealth Bank, ANZ, BankSA and Beyond Bank branches will be closed on Australia Day.
Australian Post offices across the state will also be closed on Australia Day.
STATIONARY and SUPPLIES
Officeworks
The Officeworks store on Gawler Place in Adelaide’s CBD will be open from 11am to 5pm, while their Parafield store will trade from 9am to 6pm.
All other stores around the state will be shut, including Croydon, Elizabeth, Keswick, Noarlunga, Prospect and Trinity Gardens, Gilles Plains and Marion.
