Unemployment Rates 17/05/24

Almost 320,000 Australians have been unemployed for between two years and a decade despite living through the biggest jobs booms in Australia’s history. 

The University of Melbourne has warned pro-­Palestinian protesters occupying a major building on campus that it will send in police to break up their encampment because its “patience is now at an end”. 

A frightened mother from regional SA says her child’s school was forced into lockdown after a seven-year-old boy with a history of behavioural issues produced a knife and threatened to kill classmates. 
The Queensland government’s alternative plan for the Gabba could cost $1.1bn and cut its capacity by 4000 seats.
