Fire burning in park land at Happy Valley brought under control

Firefighters have got on top of a fire that broke out at Happy Valley this afternoon, prompting warnings to people in the area.

A scrub fire at Happy Valley has been brought under control.

The fire’s danger rating was downgraded just before 5pm, meaning there is no threat to life or property.

It was burning in park land near The Vines Golf Course.

A Watch and Act message was issued at about 2pm, when the fire was moving north east towards Education Road.

A small section of Education Road remains closed.
