CCTV footage, obtained by 7NEWS, shows the driver getting into his car before an unknown person walks up and opens the door.

The footage shows the driver being coaxed out of the car and then rushed at by a group of people, who allegedly try to assault him. But the victim manages to fight them off and is not seriously injured.

A 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were charged with attempted aggravated robbery and breach of bail.

They were refused police bail and appeared in the Port Augusta Youth Court on Thursday, where they were remanded in custody to reappear in the youth court on 25 February.
