A much-loved Aberfoyle Park café that served generations of locals has permanently closed its doors, leaving a hole in the heart of the community.

The Hub Café, a fixture on Hub Drive for more than 20 years, entered liquidation on July 30 and announced its closure a week earlier on social media.

“It’s with a heavy heart I let you all know that sadly the café has closed its doors permanently,” the post from owner Jamila read.

“We think of you as extended family and it truly hurts going down this path.”

Located in the popular Hub shopping centre, the café was a daily stop for many locals — from school staff and students to retirees and young families.

Southern suburbs MP Erin Thompson praised the café’s role in the community, writing: “You created such a special place — full of warmth, community, and excellent coffee… You’ll be so missed.”

Aberfoyle Park High School also paid tribute, calling the café “more than just a café” and thanking the staff for fuelling them with coffees, lunches and “friendly smiles” over the years.

The closure has sparked a wave of emotional responses online, with many regulars sharing memories of babycinos with their kids, comforting meals, and daily chats with staff.

“Devastated and heartbroken for you all,” one commenter wrote.

“My kids had their first babychinos there...the café is still their safe place… This is going to have such a huge impact on the community.”

The Hub Café is the latest in a string of suburban businesses to shut down in Adelaide.

Last week, Café Settebello in Golden Grove also closed — only nine months after owners Rami and Lisa took it over from the former Verona Café Ristorante in late 2024.

The Advertiser has contacted The Hub Café for comment.
