St Peter’s Girls tops the pile in median ATAR rankings: See how your school stacks up

An Adelaide private girls’ school has recorded the top median ATAR score in the state. See where your school ranks.

Famous South Aussies reveal their year 12 results

St Peter’s Girls’ year 12 pupils have led their school to the biggest rise in recorded ATAR results, as other state ­private schools continued to dip.

The school median score jumped from 90.55 to 94.6 as other top schools’ results continued to fall.

The Advertiser analysed the median ATAR scores of schools published online, most of which were declared by high performing private colleges.

Many schools do not publicly reveal their median score.

St Peter’s Girls’ School scores picked up after a decrease in 2022 from 93.55 in 2021.

Their high median result came as 44 per cent of their students achieved an ATAR of 95 or higher – and their dux recorded a score of 99.70.

“As our Year 12 students commence their post school journey, whether it be further education, entering the workforce, or pursuing other aspirations, we are confident they are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead of them,” a statement from the school read.

Although recording a slight decline in their median score, from 95.05 to 93.6, Wilderness School remained one of the highest ATAR ranked in the state. In 2021, their result was 95.5, the highest of all schools surveyed that year.

Their joint duxes, Devika Mukherjee and Allegra Kleinig each recorded a 99.95 ATAR.

Wilderness School principal Belinda Arnfield said she “couldn’t be more proud” of their students and teachers.

“At Wilderness School our ongoing national success is a result of our exceptional approach to learning, where capabilities, service and values matter most,” Ms Arnfield said on Tuesday.

“Academic results follow from being embedded in an exceptional community of courageous lifelong learners.”

St George College revealed the third highest median ATAR with 90.6 as 53 per cent of their students recorded a score greater than 90.

And with 49.3 per cent of the cohort achieving an ATAR greater than 90, St Ignatius’ College had a median score of 89.9.

Co-educational private schools including Concordia College saw a slight decrease in median score, from 81.3 last year to 80.8, as did Immanuel College from 85.1 to 84.1.

While at Christian Brothers College, the median ATAR was 82.9.

At St Peter’s College, 20 students achieved an ATAR greater than 99 but they could not release median scores until International Baccalaureate results were revealed.

Among the students who scored greater than 99 was Darren Nguyen, who achieved a perfect 99.95 ATAR.

The college released a statement and commended their students on “an incredible year”.

“Today’s results represent a unified effort of our students, staff and parents and we thank our families and staff for all their care and support of the boys throughout their SPSC journey,” the statement read.

Westminster School was unable to share its SACE data due to an omission of results that would have “a significant impact” on scores.

“SACE has had to revisit some of students’ ATARs due to an omission of Cert III results,” the school announced on social media.

Among public schools where median ATAR data was available, Glenunga International High School was in a league of its own with a score of 86.

Adelaide High School followed behind with a median result of 78.95 but their dux of the school boasted a 99.95 ATAR.

Other public schools around the state where data was available included Findon High School, which with a cohort of 26 students saw 23 per cent of them record an ATAR above 90.

Their median ATAR was 70, while north of Adelaide Caritas College had a median ATAR of 77.93.

Port Augusta Secondary School scored 68.5 and Whyalla Secondary School achieved a result of 63.4.

Loreto College, Walford Anglican School for Girls, Marryatville High School and Norwood International High School did not provide their median ATAR score when contacted by The Advertiser.
