A man has been arrested and charged with death by dangerous driving after a horror crash on the Yorke Peninsula.

A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a horror crash on the Yorke Peninsula.

About 8am, police were called to Bews Rd at Alford after reports of a multi-vehicle crash involving two Mitsubishi utes.

One of the drivers, a 74-year-old man from Kadina, was killed. The second driver, a 31-year-old man from Willamulka, was taken to the Wallaroo Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He has since been released back into police custody and has been arrested and charged with cause death by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed and will appear in the Kadina Magistrates Court in May.

Bews Rd and Haldanes Rd were closed at the intersection of Hewetts Rd and Axford Rd while Major Crash officers examined the scene, but have since reopened.

The death is the 32nd life lost on SA roads compared with 15 at the same time last year.

It comes after a 53-year-old man and his 94-year-old male passenger, both from the Riverland, died after a crash between a car and truck on the Sturt Hwy, at Old Calperum, on Monday.
