Impact of graffiti vandalism in Port Lincoln

Vandals have left a street in Port Lincoln covered in explicit graffiti with extensive damage spreading from one side of the road to the other.

A video posted on a community Facebook page over the weekend showed explicit words, including “FTP” (f**k the police), spray painted across a number of buildings, the footpath and skip bins behind the Grand Tasman Hotel.

Social media users were quick to comment on the post with members of the public suspecting the culprit, or culprits to be from Port Augusta, as the town’s postcode, “5700” had also been graffitied.

Mayor of Port Lincoln, Diana Mislov told The Advertiser that the graffiti had since been removed and that the Council was working with SA Police to find who did it.

“It’s disappointing to see graffiti on any community assets, public buildings or privately owned infrastructure,” she said.

“Council is working with SAPOL to see if the offenders have been located, and would encourage those involved to be part of any clean-up process.

“I thank the community for being vigilant, and alerting the Council, who have acted quickly to remove the graffiti on public property”.
