A serial predator will be behind bars for even longer for sexually abusing a fourth child at the beach in a “forceful and unpleasant” attack.

Angus David McInnis, 23, now won’t be eligible for parole until 2027 after he left the young teenage girl with significant ongoing anxiety.

During sentencing, the District Court heard McInnis met up with the 14-year-old victim in 2021 in a Hungry Jack’s car park.

The victim got in his car and McInnis locked the doors so other people couldn’t get in.

The court heard McInnis then drove her to the beach where he sexually assaulted her.

“(The victim) became very distressed. She eventually pushed you away and got out of the car and walked away,” Auxiliary Judge Gordon Barrett said.
McInnis pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse and indecent assault.

He was jailed last year after pleading guilty to multiple counts of unlawful sexual intercourse in regards to three other victims.

During sentencing for that offending, the court heard McInnis sexually abused the first victim, who was a minor.

The court heard he filmed sexual activity with her on at least one occasion and became violent towards her.

The court heard the victim became pregnant.

“During a later sexual encounter with her while she was still pregnant, you punched her in the stomach, saying that was to kill what was inside of her,” Auxiliary Judge Barrett said.

“Sometime after that, she believed she experienced a miscarriage.”

He continued having sexual intercourse with her until he was arrested for unlawful sexual intercourse with a separate 14-year-old victim.

The court heard after McInnis was released on bail he continued to sexually abuse the second victim and on one occasion put his hands around her neck so tight she couldn’t breathe.

After he was bailed, McInnis posted a picture of himself on Snapchat with the caption: ‘I’m back b****es”.

The court heard McInnis’ partner, who is of legal age and remains supportive of him, gave birth to their child in November 2020.

McInnis was a talented sportsperson, having played SAPSASA football and cricket and was part of the B-grade Spencer Gulf Football League premiership team in 2019.

Auxiliary Judge Barrett said McInnis’ new offending was “forceful and unpleasant” and the victim now suffered from significant anxiety.

Adding on to his previous jail sentence, Judge Barrett sentenced McInnis to five years and eight months jail, with a non-parole period of four years and two months.

The sentence was backdated to May 3, 2023.
