Police officers injured after brutal Port Augusta street fight

Six people have been arrested following an wild street fight in the state’s mid-north. Watch the video.

Two police officers have been injured while trying to break-up an out-of-control street fight that broke out in the state’s mid-north.

At around 2am on Saturday morning officers tried to move a group along after a Port Augusta pub shut when violence broke out.

An officer was pushed from behind while trying to restrain one of the men.

The attacker was immediately detained when another tried to again stop the officer – that person was capsicum sprayed.

Six people including two men, three women and a young girl, just 17-years-old, were arrested on Commercial Rd.

“We need more police here, we definitely do cause they have a hard job,” one local Port Augusta women told 7NEWS.

A Port Augusta man said it was “hard to go down the main street” due to the “low lifes everywhere”.

“It feels like you don’t want to live here anymore,” he said.

Those arrested have been banned from the part of town the fight took place in.
