Police hunt for ute driver after alleged hit and run at West Beach

A motorcyclist is in hospital as police search for the driver of a red ute after an alleged hit and run near a metropolitan beach overnight.

A man is in hospital and police are searching for a motorist following a hit and run at West Beach on Wednesday night.

Police and emergency services were called to intersection of Tapleys Hill Rd and West Beach Rd at 10.50pm on Wednesday after reports a motorcyclist had been hit by a ute which had left the scene.

The rider of the Yamaha, a 66 year-old man from Warradale, suffered serious injuries.

He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a stable but serious condition.

Police are searching for a red ute with a red canopy with a silver roof rack and bull bar that fled the scene.
