A northern suburbs grandfather has been arrested on two separate occasions after allegedly committing sexual offending against a child.

On Wednesday, Northern District CIB detectives arrested a 70-year-old grandfather for the second time over alleged child sex offences.

Police say the man committed alleged offences between January 1, 2021 and February 1, 2024 which have been charged as one each count of sexually abusing a child, aggravated causing or inducing a child to expose body and aggravated recording of a child in a private act.

Court documents released to the media allege the offending took place against two separate children who were both under the age of 14 across two different suburbs north of Adelaide.

The man is yet to enter any pleas.

The 70-year-old did not apply for police bail, and did not make an application before Magistrate Edward Stratton-Smith on Thursday in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court.

The court heard the grandfather had other pending matters, which police allege includes a separate arrest on October 24 2024.

That arrest resulted from investigations into the man in relation to offences committed in October, where he was charged with one count each of sexually exploiting a child and possessing child exploitation material.

The man has not entered any pleas to those allegations.

Mr Stratton-Smith remanded the 70-year-old in custody to face court again in February this year.
